Voiceless is a poem about freedom that portrays the mental disconnection that occurs when a person is restricted vocally. This poem about freedom was the poet’s winning piece during a competition organized by Poemxtra, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Voiceless By Bakare Tolani

Flawless wordings depicted through sensors,
Volatile, yet it is cut short amid intersections,

Echoes are made as light as air,
Like the troubled heart,
Struggling to be heard yet remaining voiceless,

Joy of freedom is craved in earnest,
In hopes of having the strings attached,

Soft murmurs find their way out,
Little by little, cognition is restored,
Alas! It is aligned

Love what we do?
